The Job

Our media channels reach half a billion passengers per year travelling to hundreds of destinations around the world. Our sales executives sell advertising space in our inflight magazines to businesses who benefit from attracting a large travelling audience. Most of our inflight magazines are published monthly, though some are bi-monthly or quarterly.

You 


You will manage the entire sales process to ensure delivery against key performance metrics, with a primary emphasis on the generation of new business along with account management of your clients. Successful sales executives need to be aware of changes in the market that impact their target audience. You will be dealing with buyers, directors and key decision makers - negotiating terms of contracts and closing deals with them on a daily basis. In addition you will also be:

  • Sourcing new leads on a daily basis and cold calling potential clients
  • Defining client needs, handling objections and negotiating

Responsibilities include:

•    Pitching and writing stories for each issue of the monthly magazine, including news, interviews and longer features
•    Commissioning and editing the work of freelance writers 
•    Overseeing key sections of the magazine
•    Working closely with the art director, designer and sub-editor to ensure the best possible results

  • Creating an original story list and managing the production workflow

Reporting to (and working closely with) the Production Manager, you will have responsibility for your own titles but will also work as part of a team in prioritising the demands of the business and supporting your colleagues as necessary. Working across a portfolio of magazines and digital assets, you should be able to manage multiple projects from outset to completion with an eye for detail.  

The role requires excellent time management, good interpersonal skills and would appeal to a self-starter who loves to work in a small close-knit team.

  • Liaise with clients to chase advertising copy, by phone and email and update database

INK, the leading global inflight magazine publisher, with such titles as American Way, Nexos, Celebrated Living, Hemispheres and Rhapsody, is seeking a Sales Associate Publisher to join our dynamic and rapidly growing team in Coral Gables.   The ideal candidate will be responsible for working closely with the Sales Director to implement short, medium and longer term objectives and strategy for the magazine, and monitor success on a regular basis. They also have a structured responsibility to sell on a day to day basis against agreed targets, and manage a number of key accounts. Driving and motivating the team to produce excellent sales results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Selling magazine advertising against agreed targets, and managing a number of key clients within the magazines.
  • Actively and creatively sourcing leads and potential advertising opportunities, and overseeing the team in the same activity.
  • Working towards and exceeding targets, including maximising all revenues, increasing yields and adhering to strict time and copy deadlines.
  • Motivating the team on a daily basis and driving each sale executive to achieve above target.
  • Measure and review individual performance, and regularly conduct performance reviews and appraisals.
  • Responsibility for day-to-day leadership of the team, including managing sickness, lateness, attendance, holiday and activity rates.
  • Produce formal weekly performance reports
  • Running team meetings and attending management strategy sessions
  • Working with the editorial team to develop create initiatives for the magazine – in particular specific look, feel and content.
  • Organize layouts with editorial to recommend ideas 
  • Agreeing and implementing the overall commercial strategy of the magazine.
  • Organizing monthly performance meetings to review and drive the agreed targets.
  • Visiting top clients and creating strategies generate additional business.
  • Meeting printing and layout deadlines
  • Overseeing the quality control of all advertising in the magazine including checking and approving copy, design, layout and page planning.
  • Conduct market research and organize business trips to gain additional business

Requirements:

  • 3+ years sales experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Account management and industry networking experience is essential
  • Outstanding communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to focus and thrive in high-pressure conditions
  • Tenacious, persistent and resilient.
