Amtrak is America’s national rail operator, serving 500 destinations in 46 states, and carrying over 32 million annual passengers. Amtrak averages nearly 90,000 passengers a day on its hundreds of trains. That includes a high level of lucrative business and commuter travellers on the Eastern seaboard line between Boston and Washington, D.C. and on the West Coast line linking San Diego and San Francisco via Los Angeles.
We create Amtrak’s bi-monthly magazine, The National, distributed to its 32 million-plus annual passengers. Advertising opportunities are available in the magazine as well as on the website, which is promoted on board.
The National quite literally embodies Amtrak’s motto: “See where the train can take you”. Celebrating the romance of cross-country travel, the magazine shows its five million-plus readers the real breadth of the US, from the people transforming cities to the companies revitalising manufacturing, plus the subcultures the news ignores. Personal stories and poems, photo essays and artwork make a compelling case for exploring the country by train.
Destination is The National’s economic supplement, examining the destinations that make great places to live, work, play or invest. Exploring a destination’s global impact, business diversity and innovation, the supplement will examine how places are addressing a changing economic landscape.
Ink launched a new responsive website housing the content for The National magazine in 2016 and worked with Amtrak's in-house teams to upload that content directly onto every train, ensuring a seamless and quick download time indepndent of outside connection speeds.
Every edition is supported with a customer newsletter and a raft of social media outreach.
