Today sees the launch of the prestigious Platinum List from American Airline's Celebrated Living magazine. Basically it’s the best of the best in luxury travel according to dedicated readers, a selection of hand picked expert judges and our travel editors and writers.

Their collective voice has been gathered, discussed and voted on, to give us a list of prestigious places from around the world. 

The 12 expert judges include interior-design trailblazer Kelly Wearstler, James Beard Award-winning Chef Marcus Samuelsson, New York Times best-selling travel author Andrew McCarthy and international architect Zaha Hadid, who contributed to the issue before her untimely death in March. 

Editor Jacquelyne Froeber said:

Our expert panel (below) nominated their favorite resorts, hotels, boutique cruises, fine-dining restaurants and nightlife spots. The suggestions were put online for Celebrated Living readers to vote, resulting in 10 winners in each category. 


Jonathan Adler: Jonathan creates everything you need for a awlessly chic home, from furniture to accessories. In less than 20 years, he’s opened nearly 30 stores. With his serious design philosophy and colorful sense of optimism, he’s built a robust e-commerce site and a successful worldwide wholesale business with more than 1,000 locations. 

Gil Dezer: As president of Dezer Development, Gil Dezer has one of the largest portfolios of oceanfront property in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Dezer has been instrumental in changing the face of South Florida real estate through the introduction of brand partnerships, having forged relationships with marquee lifestyle brands such as The Armani Group. 

Jack Ezon: Jack Ezon is president of Ovation Vacations, which specializes in luxury-travel experiences. Jack’s main focus is to oversee the company’s independent contractors and leisure business, including its newly launched Skylark digital platform. Ovation Vacations is a member of the international luxury-travel network Virtuoso. 

Fern “Fern” Fernandez: Fernand “Fern” Fernandez, American Airlines’ vice president of global marketing, has led customer-experience, marketing and sales teams for more than 18 years. He currently oversees the team responsible for brand steward-ship, advertising, prod- uct development, promotions, sponsorship and marketing. 

Nacho Figueras: Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras lives in Argentina and is one of the top polo players in the world. He is the captain and co-owner of the tournament-winning Blackwatch polo team. As an international model, Nacho is best known for his work with Ralph Lauren, the brand synonymous with polo, as the face of men’s fragrances. 

Paula Froelich: Paula is a New York Times best-selling author and journalist. Her award-winning video series, A Broad Abroad, is one of the rst female-hosted travel-adventure series of its kind and is now an online magazine. Paula is the former editor-in-chief of Yahoo! Travel and the former deputy editor of the New York Post’s gossip column, “Page Six.” 

Peter Greenberg: A winner of multiple Emmys, as well as a producer and a reporter, Peter Greenberg is the travel editor for CBS News, appearing on CBS This Morning. He is also the host of The Travel Detective television series on public television, and is the New York Times best-selling author of The Travel Detective series. 

Zaha Hadid: Zaha Hadid, founder of Zaha Hadid Architects, was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize (considered the Nobel Prize of architecture) in 2004 and is internationally known for her exploration and research in the elds of urbanism, architecture and design. Hadid contributed to our expert panel before she unexpectedly passed away in March. 

Robert Irvine: With more than 25 years in the culinary profession, Chef Irvine has cooked around the world in hotels and on the high seas. He is the host of one of the Food Network’s highest-rated shows, Restaurant: Impossible. For years, Irvine has teamed up with American Airlines for Sky Ball, which has raised more than $6.5 million for Wounded Warrior. Che 

Andrew McCarthy: Andrew McCarthy is an editor-at-large at National Geographic Traveler. He has written for The New York Times and many others. His travel memoir, The Longest Way Home: One Man’s Quest for the Courage to Settle Down, was a New York Times best-seller. His novel, Just Fly Away, will be published in 2017. He is also an actor and director. 

Marcus Samuelsson: Chef Samuelsson is the author of the James Beard Award-winning The Soul of a New Cuisine: A Discovery of the Foods and Flavors of Africa. His restaurant, Red Rooster Harlem, celebrates the roots of American cuisine, and he recently partnered with the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club to open Marcus’ at the Bermuda hotel. 

Kelly Wearstler: Named to Architectural Digest’s pre-eminent Top 100 Architecture & Interior Design list and France AD’s World’s Top Interior Designers, Wearstler’s work is frequently featured in top design, travel, fashion, lifestyle and business publications. Her trademark sumptuous and vibrant interiors imbue luxury hotels and grand residences worldwide.
